The U.S. economy today has pluses and minuses, ACCF senior vice president and chief economist Margo Thorning told viewers in an interview on the BBC’s “World News Today” on June 6, 2008. Productivity, real compensation, and retail sales have all risen, but unemployment is up, the subprime drag persists, and energy prices are high, she said.
